Amtrak's southbound Vermonter train #55 is heading for the Pan Am Southern connection at East Northfield, just a mile north of the Vermont/Massachusetts border in Vernon, Vermont on December 23.
The successor to the Montrealer, the Vermonter runs between St. Albans, Vt., and Washington, DC. Much of the northern part of the route runs along the Connecticut and White Rivers.
