Still on friction-bearing shop trucks, a new Amtrak Superliner is awaiting movement around the Pullman Standard shop complex in Hammond. These cars were the last Pullman Standard-produced equipment prior to the plant's closure in the early 1980s. The Hammond facility is still standing and has been redeveloped as home to several steel-related companies which still receiving switching service from the Indiana Harbor Belt. Tom Golden photo.
