"SW1001s on the Atlantic Branch" Long Island Extra 100 heads west on the Atlantic Branch towards VD Yard with LIRR SW1001 #100 leading New York & Atlantic Railway SW1001 #101. The power was used to assist crews during the rerailing of the train that ran into the bumping block at Atlantic Terminal the week prior. This is the first time diesels have traversed the Atlantic Branch in over a decade.
