One of the greatest rare mileage excursions Amtrak ever ran was the Parker Peavine Extra. In three days it traveled from LA to Flagstaff on the Transcon, Flagstaff to Phoenix on the Peavine via Ash Fork, and Phoenix to LA via Parker and Cadiz. Here, the train is performing a photo runby east of Parker. An Arizona State Highway Patrol officer saw the crowd getting off the train, and thought there had been a derailment!
