CDTX 2101, a new Siemens SC-44 Charger sporting the Amtrak California paint scheme, shoves a cab car out onto the wye and becomes the first unit of its class in the state of California to operate under its own power. Both on this day and throughout the following week, the 2101 and two other sister units currently in the Oakland yard will be run through a series of tests by both Amtrak and Siemens personnel as they work to address any issues prior to the arrival the rest of the fleet.
