    Remarks & Notes
Saturday, October 25, 1975 dawned as miserably as any autumn day could. Rain came in waves, with frequent downpours. Nonetheless, I was going out to take photos, because a double-headed steam excursion was running from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to South Plainfield, New Jersey. The train, which I think was billed as a farewell to the Lehigh Valley, featured George Hart’s CP ten-wheeler #972 on the point. Assisting was Samuel Freeman’s ex-FEC Pacific 148, which was lettered Whippany River for the tourist operation that ran on the rails of the Morristown & Erie. Here the train heads east from Bethlehem through the village of Steel City.
