California, 1943- a female hostler has just finished tending to P-8 Pacific #2467 inside the Sacramento Roundhouse. Soon the husky Pacific will be backed out, serviced, and assigned to a troop train bound for San Francisco. In reality, the hostler is a mannequin, and 2467 is on loan to the California State Railroad Museum from the Pacific Locomotive Association. 2467 is stored serviceable, having made an appearance in steam at Railfair '99.
