Remarks & Notes

Mulvane is a very busy town for railway activity. BNSF's Ark City Sub and Emporia Sub cross over each other just southeast of town in an over/under set up. The Emporia Sub goes over in an east and west direction while the Ark City Sub goes under with trains moving in and out of town north and south. Seen here is an empty coal train moving "eastbound" up the Ark City Sub while a fast moving Z train led by the BNSF 6665 heads west towards Wellington, KS.
