A little back story on this photo series... My wife was pregnant with our ninth child and due to be induced last Friday, however capacity issues at the hospital forced a delay until further notice for the induction and delivery. I had previously agreed to photo work for September 22, and as luck had it, the hospital called us to come in for induction the same morning. My wife, being the experienced momma, knew there’d be time for me to finish the photos and not miss the delivery, so she sent me out to get it done. Updates throughout the day indicated progression through4 cm, but each time I said I’d head right back I was told to get the work done! So here’s the American Association of Private Rail Car Owners (AAPRCO) convention train, running as Amtrak symbol 813-22 and named "The Green Mountain Flyer", climbing the grade at Mount Holly, Vermont, on Vermont Rail System's Green Mountain Railroad Bellows Falls subdivision. Amtrak P40 #822 leads P42 #111 and the 18 colorful private cars westbound for the run over the GMRC to Bellows Falls. 15 hours after my last photo, ironically at Kalmbach time, 1027 hrs, a 7 lbs 6.5 oz baby boy was in my arms... my wife somehow still believes I had something to do with the time and weight... 1027 and 765...
The Green Mountain Flyer was a special train of privately owned railroad cars that are part of the American Association of Private Railroad Car Owners (AAPRCO). The train was in conjunction with the annual convention in 2017.
