    Remarks & Notes
Conrail’s Cement Secondary local passes through the area known as Dexter, where the Lehigh and New England’s Martins Creek branch crossed the Lackawanna’s Bangor & Portland Secondary. From what I can tell from old photos, the concrete formation to the right of the locomotive is the foundation of L&NE’s Dexter Tower. The train is on the former L&NE, and the track to its left is the former DL&W. The two crossed at grade just ahead of the locomotive until Conrail deemed the parallel B&P superfluous in the late 1970’s. The Dexter crossing was removed, and a switch was installed to allow the crews to access the former Lackawanna sidings serving the Lone Star Cement mill out of sight to the left, as is evidenced by the fresh ballast where the track work took place.

The EMD GP (General Purpose)series are a strong force of road switchers, with thousands produced over several decades.
