Still sporting Milwaukee Road paint 42 years after being outshopped from EMD La Grange, WAMX 1598 basks in some sunlight in Columbia Falls as a storm clears the area. Built as MILW 475 in 9/1975, 1598 has had a colorful history: after the 1985 Soo Line acquisition of the Milwaukee, it became SOO 1541, then it worked for Wisconsin & Southern as WSOR 1502 before it was relettered to WAMX 1598 and moved to another Watco property, the Mission Mountain Railroad, around 2015.
