| NS 9579 waits in the hole in Valentine to swap crew with an eastbound Z train before making a run up the hill. Originally, the train had the BNSF 5610 leading until that unit experience mechanical issues going across the Needles District and was swapped with the second motor. Now with only two motors online, this train has a horsepower per ton ratio of 1.6; resulting in a long and sluggish trip over the Arizona Divide. |
