Ten hours late due to a detour on the Oregon Trunk, Amtrak's Coast Starlight rolls south through the Sacramento River Canyon. In 1997, floods washed out the Shasta Route here. The UP GE on the point was added at Portland for the cab signal system in the Columbia River Gorge.
