Black Hills Central #7. Perhaps the longest-serving locomotive at the Black Hills Central is this little Baldwin 2-6-2. Like all of the other locos here, this engine is a log-hog. She was built in 1919 for the Ozan-Graysonia Lumber Company, but she changed hands several times over the course of her career. She came to the Black Hills Central in 1962, and was active until just a few years ago. Dressed up with a fake diamond stack and brass boiler bands, she has participated in the filming of a number movies and TV series. Although she's currently on display in the Hill City Yard, I'm told she is still operable. She's just overdue for a 1,472 SDI. The railroad just elected to defer on the inspection because the engine is not large enough to handle the line's current mid-season trains, and the railroad already has another similar size steam engine (#104) which can be used during the off season, or when the big 110 is down for maintenance.
