A BNSF loaded coal train moves west along the branch line to St. Louis. I said on another recent post that this line was owned by CN and that the coal trains operate under CN train numbers. However, after doing a little research I discovered that this line was purchased by BNSF in 2006. With the purchase, they also gained trackage rights over the Centralia, Cairo, and Fulton Subdivisions allowing them to reach Memphis. These coal trains, then, come off of the BNSF in Centralia and then run south on the Centralia Sub to Du Quoin and then turn Northwest on the BNSF to St. Louis.
