Locomotive service jobs were among the filthiest positions that were filled by female workers during the war years of the 1940s and clearly, these two ladies are under no illusion that when their shift ends later in the evening, they most likely won't look nearly as prim and proper as they do in this image.
The appearance of "Rosie" actresses have become a common occurrence on Lerro Productions Charters and one of their most popular features. One Lerro Productions employee noted that photographers are prone to bitch and complain, but the complaints seem to suddenly stop when the Rosies appear. Hmmm, I wonder why? LOL! In preparation for this scene, one photographer asked the ladies if one of them could hold a wrench. The young woman promptly produced a wrench from her pocket, similar to one you might use while working on your car. That drew a few chuckles. Then someone called out: "Will someone please get this lady a WRENCH?" Moments later, the wrench pictured here appeared. Now THAT'S a wrench!
