I recently came across my father's old train log book, which he wrote at the age of 11 in 1948. He talked about going from Detroit to Collingswood, NJ to visit his great uncle, Robert F. Mckee, who worked at Baldwin Locomotive as a chief design engineer. Then he talks about all the trains they saw going west as his family moved to Albuquerque. On 9/21/1948 he wrote that he saw Western Maryland locomotives, so one of the cards his uncle Rob gave to him was of Western Maryland 1203, a beautiful articulated locomotive. This Baldwin Locomotive Works builder's photo card is part of the John R. Doughty collection.
