Montana Rail Link’s Missoula to Laurel manifest freight passes the old stock pens and loaders at Toston, Montana, on July 1, 2018. The rustic facility has dual loading shoots that appear to be spaced to load two 40-foot stock cars at once, with the eastern loader also equipped with two levels to load double-deck cars. How neat it would’ve been to watch them load Northern Pacific “Pig Palace” stock cars oh so long ago.
