On a beautiful spring afternoon in 1985, Santa Fe 2963 West heads downhill through the sweeping curve just west of Collier in Franklin Canyon. Four-axle power still rules on some manifests such as this one, but as time passes, more and more trains will have big power, previously swapped out at Bakersfield or Fresno for the smaller locomotives.
