After dropping off the empties from Winchester at the shops at Gore about a quarter mile east, the crew heads towards the sand mine. As it approaches the loaded hoppers in the distance, a truck ventures down from the plant.
Diesel prices the past few years have made it more economical for the sand to be loaded via truck than by rail. Traffic however on the railroad is up this Summer as the plant is up to two trains a week rather than barely one.
