          Remarks & Notes
After an unsuccessful, yet beautiful as always drive to North Adams along the Boston and Maine, our luck turned around only just south of Cambridge, NY where we caught up with the Batten Kill Railroad's RS-3 #4116 heading north to Greenwich Junction with 11 loads. Here the train is passing through the picturesque village of Cambridge, NY past the beautiful D&H passenger depot—employed by the Batten Kill for their passenger excursions until 2003— and which now houses a tap room for the Argyle Brewing Company. In addition to the immaculately kept station, The Hubbard Hall Center for the Arts and Education has done an excellent job keeping the freight structures along the east side of the tracks in excellent shape. Dubbed their "Freight Yard Campus" the D&H freight house is now home to a theatre and gallery space, the Ex: Cambridge Steel and Plow Co. structure now hosts the Cambridge farmers market and occasional agricultural events. New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
