| Multiple crossings of the Potomac River have been used between the banks of Maryland and West Virginia at Shepherdstown. Three bridges plus a ferry took vehicles and carriages across upstream whereas the Shenandoah Valley Railroad crosses about a 100 yards west of the current N&W alignment where Norfolk Southern train 211 can be seen making the crossing. |
