| Light from the morning sun soaks the scene of Union Pacific transfer job YKS62 11 exiting the mass of abandoned and repurposed warehouse buildings of Kansas City’s West Bottoms District beneath the absolute signals at St. Louis Ave on KC Metro Subdivision track two. This train flips tonnage out of UP’s 18th St Yard to Kansas City Southern’s Knoche Yard and today a matched set of UP SD40-2 rebuilds and a dead “Southern Belle” KCS ES44AC get the honors. Earlier, a pair of higher prioritized eastbounds off the Kansas Sub (KLBDU 07, ANPEGR 10) were routed around this train just to the west before it got its light to move across town. |
