The sun has set behind the hills north of tunnel 2, but heavy action continues on Tehachapi's western slope. At the west end of Beaville siding, an eastbound SP manifest meets a Santa Fe light helper and then Santa Fe 2943 East, both waiting in the 13,000-foot siding for the heavy uphill to pass.
