The Silver Splendor's Final Ride. It was a somber moment at Redondo Junction as many of us on the crew of Santa Fe 3751 watched an old friend - the private car "Silver Splendor" take its final ride on the Redondo Turntable. The 1956 product of Budd, beautifully restored by the Caestecker family, would be making its last ever departure from Los Angeles that evening via the Sunset Limited bound for its new home on the Conway Scenic Railroad in New Hampshire.
