After Santa Fe took over Toledo, Peoria & Western, home road locomotives were disposed of or dispersed into the Santa Fe system. Initially, the AT&SF brought in a fleet of EMD GP39-2s to operate on the old TP&W routes. In this view a couple of months after the merger, several Santa Fe GP39-2s gather at the engine facility at East Peoria, Illinois.
