| NS 9460 slowly makes its way south through Blue Island Junction as a fire begins to grow next to the mainlines. A short time earlier, a locomotive on a passing IHB transfer shot out some sparks into the dry brush next to the Cal Sag Channel. As I made a call to 911, the crew of 9460 reported the fire to the dispatcher and all trains were halted. The Blue Island Fire Department arrived moments later and the situation was quickly handled. |
