| In March major flooding went on with the Missouri River around Omaha and south. The BNSF Creston Sub was out of service during the flooding. During this time Amtrak's California Zephyr was scheduled to detour from Chicago to Council Bluffs via the UP. Due to heavy delays and the strain on resources, the detours did not continue til the Creston Sub was opened. Only about 5-6 days of detours went. On Saturday, 3/23, the westbound #5 is seen here operating on the Geneva Sub behind a bunch of westbound traffic. The train passes the classic coal tower here at DeKalb. |
