| The Union Pacific steam special is seen here about 5 miles south of Point of Rocks after passing the Black Butte Mine in the far distance. This is one of the few North/South oriented stretches of the UP in this part of Wyoming and I chose it for my shot because I thought the light might be better here. The train made an unscheduled servicing stop at Point of Rocks, not far North of my photo location.It drew a large crowd of fans due to being next to I80. At my photo spot I was alone except for one other fan: a retired Trona miner!
