    Remarks & Notes
Impressive streamlined 4-4-2 "Atlantic" express train steamlocomotive 12 # 004 of the belgian railways SNCB/NMBS, exhibited in the Train World museum at Bruxelles Schaarbeek. Only six of this type were built in 1939 by Cockerill/Seraing with a maximum velocity of 140 km/h (87 mph) and about 2500 HP for express train services between Bruxelles and Oostende. The driving wheel diameter is 2100 mm or 6,89 ft. The french PLM and the american Milwaukee Road had successfully procured light trains with streamlined steam locomotives of the "Atlantic" type for this purpose. Based on these models, SNCB/NMBS and Cockerill developed a streamlined steam locomotive of the Atlantic type under the direction of their chief engineer Raoul Notesse. It was the last series of locomotives with this axle arrangement, at the same time they were the largest and heaviest European Atlantic locomotives ever built. The Train World railway museum in Bruxelles was opened in september 2015.
