There are two Pacific Surliner round trips each day that operate the entire 350 miles of the line from San Luis Obispo to San Diego, along California's scenic Pacific Coast. (There are also six round trips between Los Angeles and Goleta, near Santa Barbara, and seven round trips between Los Angeles and San Diego.) Train 774 is one of those operating all 350 miles of the route, and is seen on October 28, 2018, approaching the station in Anaheim, California, with EMD F59PHI 464 on the point. Built in 1998, the fleet of Surfliner F59PHIs is already thinning, as they have been sold to Chicago's Metra commuter operation.By the time of this photo, some have already left California, and two Siemens "Charger" SC-44 diesels are already breaking in one one round trip of Surfliners, with more arriving in Los Angeles all the time.
