"Big Boats under the wire"
Providence and Worcester train FPCH breaks the early morning silence at Southport, Ct., on Metro North's New Haven Line. C40-8 4050, is one of four C40-8's P&W owner Genesee and Wyoming purchased over a year ago to replace the GATX and CEFX SD60's and SD40-2's lease units. Two of the four "Big Boats" have been recently cleared as leaders on the Mets, having upgraded ATC / Acses-PTC packages installed. Arrangements were made with the crew concerning the location where the flash would take place.
