    Remarks & Notes
The Union Pacific's "Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Torch Relay" train passes through the Santa Susana Mountains on its way north on January 16, 2002. This train, carrying the Olympic Torch, is about to enter Tunnel 28 after passing through Chatsworth, California. Built by the Southern Pacific, this line is now owned by Metrolink, as their Ventura Subdivision. The "Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Torch Relay" train is taking a circuitous route to Salt Lake City, where the 2002 Winter Olympics will be held, in order to allow the Olympic Torch to traverse as much of America as possible. The train carries the Olympic Flame in a specially designed car on the end, which has a cauldron during the entire trip. At a variety of points, torches are lighted from this cauldron and carried by runners as they, and the flame, make their way to Utah.
