A Puget Sound and Pacific grain train from Hastings, NE and destined for Aberdeen, WA was traversing the Montana Rail Link just below Mullan Pass at a place known as the Austin Curves. The train had two sets of manned helpers to assist over the hill.
Coal and steel don't go bad. This album features long, slow, heavy freight trains; drag freights, slop freights, dead freights, etc. Trains with lots of power, and lots of different cargo slogging along behind.
