Waking up on the morning of October 16, 2000, at St. Regis, Montana, revealed weather foretelling the coming of winter, making one almost want to sleep in when low-speed film is loaded in the camera. But a short venture to the semaphores at mile 193.6 unveils a blade dropped portending a westbound approaching out of Superior. A rumble and clatter along the Clark Fork brings with it a westbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight, captured in a long exposure on Kodachrome.
