Getting underway. The former Moore-Keppel Co. Climax #6, now Cass Climax #9 oozes steam from just about everywhere as she begins to move from the Cass Yard to the depot, to pick up her train.
Geared steam locomotives typically have their cylinder cocks mounted higher than rod engines do and they are typically pointed vertically. The result is some pretty spectacular steam shows on cold mornings like this one. Just seconds after I snapped this image, the little Climax was almost totally enveloped in a cloud of steam, which was pretty cool, but not nearly as interesting for photography as the scene captured here.
