| One of the more interesting things to look back on for Amtrak's San Joaquin's in 2019 was the need for extra cars to raise the axle count of all trains. The dilemma to add additional, non-revenue cars to ensure proper activation of all railroad crossings down to Bakersfield and back required equipment such as spare ex-NJT comet cars and even some of Amtrak's newest Viewliner diners being pressed into service, as seen here on Amtrak 713 at Modesto. |
