Two rare EMD relics from the past(and a caboose) sit silently awaiting their pick up from the Battenkill local(the run was cancelled today due to no loads delivered yet by the Pan Am) to head north for storage on the property. The two former SNC BL2s(both originally sister units of the BAR built in 1949) had been parked for year in Corinth NY on the former Saratoga & North Creek line along with a host of other rare equipment after the railroad was sadly shut down and dismantled in April of 2018 after a 7 year run due to serious financial issues by Iowa Pacific Holdings and on going issues with Warren County. The 52 & 56 are two of only seven restored survivors (with four currently known to be operable)in North America of this unique model of EMD.
Taking a look at the same train and scene as captured by different photographers. The best way to view will be to sort by photo date so the photos are grouped together.
An assortment of photos of the distinctly unique (and 'cute') little locomotive EMD ever built, the BL2! I understand it also makes a tasty sandwich..Oh, that's a BLT! (When a new BL2 photo is "ordered", it will be served fresh!)
