| In eastern Germany, close to the Polish border there are several open-pit brown coal mines. Coal from that is transported to the surrounding power stations by rail. The local industrial railway network is quite big, we can see there characteristic industrial electric locomotives like the one from that photo. In the picture there is EL2-307 locomotive with freight train from the open-pit mine in Broxberg to "Schwarze Pumpe" power station in Spremberg. In the background you can see another power station - "Kraftwerk Broxberg". |
