| I was traveling to Chama, NM early on a Friday evening to spend a weekend shooting fall colors on the C&TS when I ran into a surprise as I crested Cumbres Pass on Hwy 17. A short eastbound train was just finishing taking on water. I quickly reversed course and chased the train down as far as Los Pinos Tank and caught this image literally seconds before the sun went down The low sun angle highlights how faded many of the green passenger cars were at the end of the '04 season. They would begin to receive fresh paint and a new color in 2005. |
