| A pair of Chicago Short Line units are seen pulling a string of empty bottle cars east out of US Steel's South Works facility along Lake Michigan for a return into NW Indiana. With over 10,000 employees entering the 1970s, demand for steel would decrease dramatically resulting in he facility's closure in 1992. Tom Golden photo. |
