Remarks & Notes

A rare Bird UP U 50 # 43 Rests in CNWs Proviso Yard In early 1974. A number of these units were in the CNW at the time as they were considering buying them. But the CNW bought the N&W C628s instead. The Units sent to the CNW were then retired. But A few others were kept for a while running out of North Platte. I got to see them in action then And what a great sight and sound it was. They were Called whirlybirds Because of the Big cooling fan cages at each end original. From my Collection
