| Detour on the Road Less Travelled: Because of the derailment of CSX Q404 at Townley Interlocking in Union, NJ on 12/08/17, most freight traffic to/from the greater New York City area needed to take the single-track Port Reading Secondary for a portion of their trip. While there is a short siding here in this photo, it is not sufficient for road trains to pass each other on. The high volume of traffic was made worse by a snowstorm that had moved into the area on this date. NS 8860 (C40-9; rebuilt to become AC44C6M NS 4097 in September of 2018) is the second unit. |
