| Montana Rail Link SD45 number 346 leads a loaded ballast train out of the Jefferson River Canyon between Whitehall and Sappington Montana. This 20-cylinder monster is traversing the MRL's 5th subdivision, which was once the Northern Pacific's route over Homestake Pass. The 5th sub is now stub ended not far past the ballast loader located at Pipestone Montana, which is where this train came from. At the time of this photo MRL only had two SD45s in active service.
