SU99 tackles the Sparta Mountain grade on its trip west to Binghamton, NY. Three crewmen are visible in this shot: in addition to the conductor and engineer in the leader, a mechanic is visible in the cab of the 3rd unit. The leader (former OWY 9094) is in its first runs for NYSW in this photo. Behind the leader are NYSW 3018 (SD40-2; former SOU 3267), CEFX 3147 (SD45M-2; former ATSF 5622), CEFX 3126 (SD45M-2; former SP 9006), and NYSW 3808 (SD60; former OWY 9082).
