Remarks & Notes
San Diego does not see many sleepers in revenue service, but Superliner Sleeping Car 32017 was in town in May 1988 for the San Diego Railfair, most likely to entice some San Diegans to head north and ride one of Amtrak’s long-distance trains out of Los Angeles. This was one of several cars that Amtrak sent to be displayed on this weekend, along with a batch of older rail equipment on loan from nearby Pacific Southwest Railway Museum, along with newly restored Santa Fe F7A 347C and F7B 306B, plus Southern Pacific E9A 6051, brought down from the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento. (San Diego, California – May 6, 1988)
