Last stand. On the scorching hot summer morning of July 24, 2015, Amtrak's Auto Train (Train 52) crosses Powell's Creek in Woodbridge, Virginia. This train is famous for being "the longest passenger train in the world" (aided by its many non-passenger auto racks), but railfans also know that it is the one place to frequently see P40DCs operating, and usually in pairs. On this day AMTK 831 and 818 lead over the former Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Potomac Railroad bridge.
Amtrak's longest train takes passengers and their vehicles on an overnight trip between Florida and the Northeast while eliminating 850 miles of driving. It is popular with snowbirds and families.
