    Remarks & Notes
A set of Rio Grande power moves toward the enginehouse at Helper, Utah, on the afternoon of August 6, 1996. Rio Grande had a total of 73 EMD SD40T-2 Tunnel Motors bought between 1974 and 1980. After the Southern Pacific merger in 1988, a total of 16 of these units were repainted and relettered SP, but still retained DRGW reporting marks and numbers, like Rio Grande No. 5399 seen here.
