| The daily Waterloo to Ft Dodge local is about to stop to do interchange work with the Iowa River Railroad south of Ackley. 571 will do the setouts and 570 does the pickups at this interchange place normally. The train passes this nice Ackley Publishing Company building. Behind the building is the restored 1926 ex-IC Combination Depot. A combination depot is one that incorporates passenger and freight services in the same building. It is a second-generation depot and one of the last combination depot built by the IC before the great depression. Passenger service was discontinued in 1970. |
