Despite the pandemic, the LC&S continues operating, one of the highest standard-gauge railroads operating in the United States at the moment, if not the highest; Leadville sits at roughly 10,150 feet above sea level. This is the only remaining railroad operation in Leadville following the shutdown of UP's ex-DRGW Tennessee Pass line in 1997.
